Chasing Clouds in Nepal
By Sushan
They say Nepal touches the sky—not just with its mountains, but with its spirit. I didn’t fully understand that until I chased clouds from Kathmandu’s chaos to Nagarkot’s calm, then drifted to the peaceful lakes of Pokhara.
Kathmandu – Where Stories Begin
My journey began in the ever-alive capital, Kathmandu. The streets buzzed like nowhere else—horns, prayer bells, laughter, life. I stood before the ancient Swayambhunath Stupa, feeling the history whisper through the fluttering prayer flags. At Durbar Square, I lost myself in the maze of temples and time-worn stones. It was messy. Loud. Beautiful.
Nagarkot – Where the Sky Kisses the Earth
A two-hour drive brought me to Nagarkot, a quiet hill station northeast of Kathmandu. I reached before dusk and waited. And then, the magic—sunset over the Himalayas. Clouds moved like silk scarves over the peaks. For a moment, it felt like the world had stopped spinning. I slept that night above the clouds.
Pokhara – Stillness by the Lake
Next stop: Pokhara—a city that feels like a deep breath. I rented a paddle boat and drifted across Phewa Lake, watching the reflection of the Annapurna range shimmer on the water. I hiked up to the World Peace Pagoda, where the view was worth every step. Then paragliding over the valley? Unreal. Pokhara isn’t just a place—it’s a feeling.
Nepal Changed Me
This trip wasn’t just about landscapes; it was about letting go. Of expectations. Of schedules. Of wifi. I connected with strangers over tea and shared silent sunrises with people I’ll never meet again. And I realized—you don’t have to conquer Everest to feel on top of the world.
